Ananta GTA anime open world to watch in 2026 feature image

I have been following this since the Project Mugen days. I am also watching GTA 6. For Ananta, 2026 is just a year to watch, not confirmed. GTA 6 does have a 2026 console date.

What Ananta actually is

Here is the simple idea. Ananta is an urban open world RPG in Nova City. Players take the role of a new captain in a special task force. You respond to strange cases, build a small team, and use an in game social feed to push missions. The city is a playground. You can swing, run on walls, glide with a wingsuit, drive, fight with melee, and shoot. City freedom with anime energy and superhero like movement

The new trailer at TGS 2025

I watched the seven minute gameplay trailer from the TGS 2025 build. It shows fast city travel, swinging, parkour, wall runs, first and third person driving, melee brawls, and shootouts. The game feels like anime GTA with Spider Man style movement. Everyone is describing it the same way.

Release status and the 2026 watch note

The studio has not posted a date. Press and community talk point to 2026 as the year to watch. Treat that as a guess until the studio confirms it. In the same year, GTA 6 is set for a 2026 console launch. If Ananta also lands in 2026, both games arrive in the same calendar year, with very different styles and models. If you want a deeper take on GTA 6, I wrote about it here in why GTA 6 will be huge and how it adds up

Quick compare on timing

Ananta is planned for PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android. It is free to play. The team has not shared platform specific dates yet. GTA 6 is console first in 2026, with no PC date announced

Monetization with no character gacha

No character gacha means no random pulls for the roster. I should earn characters by playing. Money goes to extras like outfits, vehicle paints, and furniture. That keeps the main game on the play side, not the pay side

RPG or sandbox how it really plays

It is both. The RPG side is the role, story, and a growing squad. The sandbox side is the big city full of toys and side tasks. I pick what to do next. It feels like story missions plus free roam play

Traversal swinging parkour driving

Movement is a star here. I can swing across blocks, run on walls, jump roof to roof, glide with a wingsuit, and hop into a car in first person or third person. The key is momentum and flow

Combat melee shooting gadgets

Fights mix light and heavy melee with guns. The trailer shows finishers, crowd control, and set piece shootouts. Each agent looks like they bring a few tricks and gadgets. It is flashy, but timing still matters

Characters squad and how you get them

Players take the captain role and meet agents with their own movement styles and combat roles. Since there is no character gacha, characters should unlock by playing. Think story progress, missions, and clear in game paths

Progression story missions and growth

The team has not shown a deep skill tree yet. From what is public, progress flows through story chapters, missions, and the in game social feed that ties into goals. I expect character skills and upgrades as I move forward

City activities side content and toys

Outside the main path there are car chases, races, photo tasks, quick minigames, and social feed challenges. The map is built for fast traversal, so short trips turn into fun strings of moves

Can you play it now

Right now the only public way to try Ananta is at Tokyo Game Show 2025 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.  It runs from September 25 to 28. It is a floor demo. There is no public beta or global test build yet

Final take

Ananta looks like a big swing. If the team nails movement feel, mission flow, and fair spending, this could be a strong new city to spend time in. I am really excited for this one since it looks a lot like GTA and I love anime, I feel this could be a big one
