Resident Evil 7, 8, and 9 Are Coming to Switch 2 in 2026
I did not expect Resident Evil to show up at the September Nintendo Direct but Capcom delivered a surprise. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and the brand new Resident Evil Requiem are officially coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
Even better, all three will release on February 27, 2026. That means two of the most popular modern entries and the next mainline sequel will land on Nintendo’s new console at the same time as PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Capcom Confirms Resident Evil for Switch 2
Capcom made an appearance during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct with one of the biggest announcements of the show. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem are all confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2.
The reveal included a new trailer for Requiem, giving fans another look at the ninth mainline entry in the series. Capcom also confirmed that the Switch 2 versions of Resident Evil 7 and Village will be the Gold Editions, which come with all of the extra content released for those games.
What Games Are Coming

Capcom is going all in. Two recent Resident Evil classics are getting full native ports to Switch 2 for the first time, and the ninth mainline entry, Resident Evil Requiem, will launch on the same day as PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
-
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Gold Edition
The first person return to survival horror that brought the series back to its roots. The Gold Edition includes the Not a Hero and End of Zoe expansions along with all previous DLC. -
Resident Evil Village Gold Edition
The direct follow up to Biohazard with a mix of horror and action. The Gold Edition adds the Winters Expansion, which features Shadows of Rose, new Mercenaries content, and a third person mode. -
Resident Evil Requiem
The ninth mainline game in the series, set in a ruined Raccoon City. The trailer showed tense exploration, combat, and puzzle solving, the classic elements fans expect.
For Switch 2 players this is something special. They are not only getting two modern Resident Evil titles in their complete Gold Editions, they are also getting the brand new sequel on the exact same day as every other platform.
What to Expect From the Switch 2 Versions
Capcom has not shared every technical detail yet, but it has been confirmed that these are proper Switch 2 releases. That matters because previous Resident Evil games on the original Switch were cloud versions that required streaming instead of running directly on the hardware.
This time players can expect native versions. That means no internet requirement just to play the campaign and a much more reliable experience overall. It is still unclear how close the graphics and performance will be to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox versions, but having three major Resident Evil titles arrive together already shows that Capcom is taking the Switch 2 seriously.
The Gold Editions of Resident Evil 7 and Village also mean Switch 2 players will get the complete content from the start. For a console that often missed out on full editions, this is a welcome change.
Resident Evil Requiem Is the Big One
Resident Evil 7 and Village are both worth revisiting, but the spotlight is clearly on Resident Evil Requiem. This is the ninth mainline entry and it marks a return to a ruined Raccoon City. The trailer showed classic Resident Evil elements like tense exploration, puzzle solving, and resource management.
Capcom described Requiem as a survival horror experience that moves the series forward while holding onto its roots. For Switch 2 players this is especially important. Instead of waiting years for a port or missing out completely, Nintendo owners will get the new Resident Evil on the same day as every other platform.
There is still plenty we do not know. The Direct only gave a small glimpse of gameplay with the promise of more updates before release. But just having Requiem confirmed for Switch 2 alongside PlayStation, Xbox, and PC is already one of the biggest announcements of the year.
Why This Matters for Switch 2
Resident Evil coming to Switch 2 is about more than just three games. It shows that Capcom and other major publishers are ready to support Nintendo’s next console with major releases from the very start. The original Switch often had cut down ports or cloud versions that never felt as good as playing on PC or the other consoles.
By bringing Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem directly to Switch 2, Capcom is sending a clear signal that the new hardware can handle modern games built on the RE Engine. That could also open the door for future Resident Evil remakes, spin offs, and other Capcom series to arrive without compromise.
This helps Nintendo as well. The Switch brand has always been strong with family friendly titles, but having Resident Evil at launch shows that the platform is also ready for mature games. That makes the Switch 2 launch window feel more balanced and appealing to a wider range of players.
One Last Thing
Capcom confirming Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem for Switch 2 is one of the biggest surprises of the year. Three major games arriving together on Nintendo’s new console is a strong start and a clear sign that third party publishers are ready to support the platform.

February 2026 looks set to be a busy month. The only question left is whether you will be exploring Raccoon City on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, or Nintendo’s newest console.
