Roblox Keeps Closing With No Error? Check Sophos or Antivirus

Roblox app screen glitching beside a security shield, showing antivirus software may cause Roblox to close without an error.

If Roblox opens, works for a few minutes, then closes with no error, check your antivirus before reinstalling the game again. When this happened to me, Sophos was the problem. Roblox looked broken, but the issue was really coming from the security software running in the background.

Check Sophos or your antivirus before reinstalling Roblox

Before deleting Roblox, open the antivirus or security app running on your PC. In my case, it was Sophos, but the same kind of problem can happen with another antivirus if it blocks Roblox in the background.

Look for anything blocked, flagged, or quarantined around Roblox. If you use Sophos Home, Sophos has a support page about allowing games to run with Sophos Home, including Game Detection and local exclusions.

For a quick test, you can temporarily turn off your antivirus protection, open Roblox, and see if the crash stops. Turn protection back on right after testing. With Sophos, turning protection off may not be enough to rule it out, because some users reported Roblox still crashing until Sophos was repaired, reinstalled, or removed. Do not leave your PC unprotected just to play Roblox. Update your security app, add Roblox as an allowed app or exclusion, or ask your admin or IT person if the device is managed.

If the laptop belongs to your school or work, do not remove Sophos or any antivirus by yourself. Ask the admin or IT person to check it, because managed devices can have rules you cannot change safely.

If Roblox still closes, try these safe checks next

If the antivirus test does not change anything, move through the normal Roblox fixes. Restart your PC, reinstall Roblox, update your graphics driver, and check if Windows Firewall is blocking the app.

You can also open the Roblox logs folder and check the newest files:

%localappdata%\Roblox\logs

The logs may not explain everything, but they can show if Roblox keeps failing the same way every time. Roblox also lists antivirus, firewall, temporary internet files, and corrupted files on its desktop troubleshooting page, so these checks are worth doing before you reset Windows or wipe anything.

Do not post those log files publicly. Roblox says logs should only be sent when a Roblox employee asks for them, so keep them private unless support or staff request them.

If Roblox works on another PC but not yours, the issue is probably something installed or configured on your main PC. If it only fails on a school or work device, the security setup may be the part you need help with.

When this Roblox and Sophos issue started showing up

The no-error crash problem itself is not new. What looks newer is the Sophos-related wave I found, which started showing up around late May 2026. One Roblox DevForum thread was opened on May 30, 2026, and players were still talking about Sophos as a possible cause in early July 2026.

That does not mean every Roblox crash since then is Sophos. It means Sophos and antivirus software are worth checking early if Roblox closes without an error message, especially if reinstalling Roblox does nothing.

Do not wipe Windows just because Roblox disappears with no warning. Check Sophos or your antivirus first, test one thing at a time, and only move to bigger fixes when the simple checks do not change anything.
