Marvel Rivals on PS4 Right Now: My Take on Angela and K’un-Lun feature image

I finally booted Marvel Rivals on PS4 to see how it holds up. Season 4 landed with Angela, so I spent a few nights swapping between my usual picks and her kit to figure out what actually works.

Short version, you can play on PS4 today and it is fun if you set the right expectations. Angela is worth learning if you start fights on your terms. K’un-Lun is close, so this season still has room to grow. I will keep this simple and share what feels good, what needs tweaks, and what I plan to run next.

Note: Daredevil appears in the Season 4 trailer and is expected to arrive with Season 4.5 on Oct 10, 2025. The Sept 4 notes confirm Angela and the Season 4 start, but they don’t list Daredevil’s date on that page.

Is Marvel Rivals on PS4 now?

Yes. Season 4 went live on September 12 at 09:00 UTC. Angela became playable at the same time, and the PS4 version launched in that same update window. If you are on PS4, you can download and play right now.

PS4 performance and the settings I use

On a base PS4, I treat the game like a 30 fps title. Visuals are stepped down and big team fights can feel heavy. It is still playable if you keep things simple. On a PS4 Pro, it feels a lot better. Quiet moments can hit 60, then dip when the fight gets messy. I can live with that.

Here are the settings that helped me the most:

  1. Pick the performance preset

  2. Cap the frame rate at 60 with V-sync on

  3. Turn off motion blur

  4. Drop shadows and foliage one step

  5. After the first launch, restart the game once

  6. Play one or two bot matches to warm things up before ranked

Small hitches still happen at the end of a round or when everyone dumps ults at once. Not every match, but often enough that I noticed. If you want stability more than looks, these settings are a good start.

Angela guide, quick and simple

Angela is a Vanguard who wins fights by picking the angle, hitting first, then giving your team a clean follow up. If you try to hard carry alone, she feels weak. If you set the pace, she feels great.

How I play her

  • Start from the side, not straight through mid

  • Open with a burst, then take one step back so your team can shoot past you

  • Keep one escape tool ready at all times

  • Pair with a steady ranged DPS and one healer

When she shines

  • Maps with height swaps and flanks

  • Teams that talk and follow engages

  • Comps with poke that turn your opening into real damage

Common mistakes

  • Diving deep without your team

  • Burning all cooldowns in the first second

  • Chasing a low target across open space

My verdict
Good with a party, average in solo queues. Think brawler who can fly, not a pure tank or pure DPS. Ready for K’un-Lun, since height control fits her kit.

K’un-Lun: what to expect

K’un-Lun, Heart of Heaven is the big Season 4 map drop, landing on September 25, 2025 at 09:00 UTC. It plays tall. Mid has clear lines of sight, the sides wrap around, and there are a lot of spots to change height fast. Flyers and heroes with grapples feel great here. Ground brawlers still work if you take short routes and keep cover between you and long sightlines.

How I plan to play it

  • Take early height, then drop together for the first fight

  • If your team wipes, rotate through side stairs, not straight mid

  • Supports should hold corners near cover for longer uptime

  • Save one mobility tool for the second push, not the first peek

Heroes I am lining up

  • Angela for clean engages from above

  • Iron Man for safe pressure across mid

  • Rocket for traps on side paths

  • Captain America when the team needs a safe walk in

What to play this week

If you are on PS4, keep it stable first, fancy later.

Settings to start with

  1. Performance preset

  2. Frame cap at 60 with V-sync on

  3. Motion blur off

  4. Shadows and foliage one step lower

Easy hero picks

  • Angela if you like to start fights

  • Iron Man for safe ranged pressure

  • Rocket for traps on side paths

  • Mantis to keep pushes alive

  • Captain America when you need a front line

Simple plans

  • Take height on K’un-Lun, poke, then drop together

  • On tighter maps, run a brawler pair and stagger pushes

  • In solo queue, pick heroes that can peel for themselves

Wrap up

Marvel Rivals on PS4 is playable today. It feels best when you set the right expectations and use a few smart settings. Angela is fun when you start fights on your terms, then give your team a clean follow up. K’un-Lun is a tall map, so I am lining up picks that win height and rotate fast. That is my plan for the week.
